Welcome to Years 1 to 13. Our teachers worship in a variety of denominations and bring a richness to Christian education. They provide a range of exciting activities, welcoming and colourful classrooms and closely monitor the progress of every child. The children in the school are warm and friendly, and new children are quickly assimilated to feel supported and nurtured.
Academic programmes, whilst being Christian based, meet all the requirements of the New Zealand national curriculum. In comparison to national averages our children consistently achieve at core competencies well. For students 1-13 the learning is integrated with 1 to 1 devices. Camps and/or overnighters are also a medium to develop greater independence and confidence.
We strongly believe that parents are their child’s first educators, and our aim is to support parents in their God ordained role to train their children to become adults who will ultimately become positive influencers within society and outwards to the world.
Within the whole school we have an active kapa haka group which performs at the Area Schools’ hui, Tuahiwi school hui and the St Joseph’s Cultural Festival to name a few. Not forgetting Community Service, primary and secondary classes contribute towards activities benefiting the elderly and service groups both locally and internationally ie Cambodia.
Talented staff and parents provide coaching in a range of sporting codes where RNLS has a strong tradition of achievement. We regularly engage with other local schools in sport meets, etc. The school gymnasium is utilized on a weekly basis (over the season) by North Canterbury schools for basketball competition.
Interact CurriculumActivities outside the classroom include trips to various museums, farm yards, science discovery and the Junior Primary group actively engages in the Perceptual Motor Programme. For further information click here to view our Primary Prospectus.
