Christian Living is a compulsory subject from year 1-13 at Rangiora New Life School.
At the primary level the content is taught through the Interact Curriculum where Christian Living is integrated through all subjects. At secondary year 9 and 10 have two periods per week where they begin to examine the themes, and overarching story, of the Bible and different ways of reading the scriptures.
At senior secondary students are given 3 periods of teaching a week where they work within the NCEA religious studies strand and can gain 18 internal credits from 3 standards. The focus across all years is to help students gain a deeper understanding of who God is and how we can learn more about Him.
Teachers are encouraged to make the classes relevant and life-bringing for the students, following the Christian Living vision that the gospel is an exciting, progressive, revolutionary message of hope. Treat it as such!
